BEFORE READING, ALL CHARACTERS AND OTHERS ARE COPYRIGHTS TO ARCHIE AND SEGA!!! AND I, THEREFORE, AM ANNOUNCING AN APOLOGY TO THOSE!

The Knothole Village was stirring with less folks around this time of the day. The lights were shut in most of the huts as the wind blows and the trees remain still and bold. The one hut was litted as there was someone who is up for whatever daily activity that someone is doing. A rougish rose in a vase on the shelf of an open window --- a sign of this as the home of Amy Rose. There, through the window was Amy, reading the Knothole Inquistor newspaper on her green couch. (That newspaper name first appeared in that short comic when "Pink" Sally Acorn was upset about her change of hair color [Sonic The Hedgehog Comic Issue #3]). She seems to be quite pleased to notice no unpleasant news of today. As soon as she was about to go on the next paper, a knock on the door was heard...
"I wonder who can that be?" the pretty pink hedgehog responds.
Since the window is open, she decides to peep out to see who's at the front poor of hers. She gently takes the vase back inside and looks over. On the front porch was a silly looking squirrel. A stranger to her, that light squirrel has a red band which makes up a pony tail, a pink short shirt which her belly is exposed, and an orchid short pants. In spite of her lack of pupils, she has long eyelashes, a buck tooth, and some pink lipgloss on her. There was also a piece of gum she is chewing slowly. Not to mention that lighter tan color around her mouth to down her neck and that stripe along to her tail. This odd looking character makes Amy a bit curious about who is this nobody. "Um, hello? Can I help you?" Amy spoke at that squirrel.
That squirrel doesn't appear the be happy at all. In fact, she looks down in the dumps. Amy seems wonder what is suppressing this squirrel. She peeps away from the window and reaches to the doorknob. When she did, she gets a closer view of her. That sad squirrel looks up a bit, still not smiling.

"May I please come in, miss?" those words came out of that squirrel. She sounds like her voice was meant to be happy and cheerful, not like a crazed girly tone. She looks at Amy with those sad eyes. Amy hates to see a girl like this, especially if it's someone who looks lost and depressed. "Sure, come on in..." Holding onto the door, Amy lets the goofy-looking yet sad squirrel inside. When she did, Amy notices that squirrel was heading to that same couch where Amy sat and left those newspaper there and sat there. Unfortunately, she didn't noticed that she sat on the papers and crushed it. There, that squirrel sighs...
"Is there something I can do for you, miss?" Amy asks politely, beginning to wonder why is his stranger all like this. No response. This squirrel seems like she's not to happy to talk. Amy then decides to walk near her, asking, "What on Mobius is the matter, honey?"

That time, the squirrel looks up and makes contact on the face. With those same sad eyes, that squirrel said, "Do you know who I am?" Amy responds with a nod, but she wonders why she asked that question. "Just as I thought...nobody knows me...." she said, looking away. Amy then goes around the chair to made contact on that squirrel's face. "Please, miss, tell me what's wrong!" Amy neels down and gently lifts that squirrel's chin up. "Hey, you look like as if nobody remembers who you are. Tell me who you are..."

"The name's Sonnette..." the squirrel begins.

Amy tilts her head curiously with her one ear twitching. "Say, that sounds a lot like..."

"Sonic?" Sonnette replies, not meaning to interrupt, "Yeah. I know him. I'm his biggest fan. I changed my name to honor my hero. I loved him so much as if I was like the only fan girl in my town, McGuffin". Amy begins to think that this nobody happens to be some wannabe since Amy herself loves Sonic. She begins to think that she comes from a forgotten town.
"So, um...Sonnette...why are you so sad?" Amy repeats her question from before.
"Nobody knows who I am..." Sonnette answers gloomily, "After I left McGuffin, I was traveling to find my hero, Sonic. I was like bored at home, so I thought I would pay a visit to him. But by the time I got closer, before I was near this village, some passbyers never noticed me. I had that way before I got here and before I was out of McGuffin. I met a big red guy in gloves. I met a big fat cat who has a fishing rod and a frog for a pet. I even met some black hedgehog who looks a lot like Sonic. There are so many faces I've met yet they never bother to notice nor know me. I just feel like a miserable nobody..."
Amy know those descriptions were folks she knows. The big red guy was Knuckles, the big fat cat was Big, and that black hedgehog was Shadow, which she remembers mistakening him for Sonic. Amy frowns to see her like this. Trying to make new friends outside of town seems difficult for poor Sonnette.

"...and then..."

Amy looks back after Sonnette has more to say. Amy was willing to listen more on what else does this nobody is about to say next.

"Miles and miles, from one pit stop to another, I reached to a grassy hill that isn't too far away from the Knothole Village. I manage to get a map before I left, mind you. As I did, I was surprised that there was Sonic just yards away from here. He was standing there as if he was waiting for someone. I thought he was thinking about me since the last time we first met. I was so excited that I started to run towards him. While I did, I was dreaming of how happy he'd be to see me again, remembering me and all that. But when I open my eyes, I stopped. There was some young squirrel that had a tail of a chipmunk, wearing a blue vest and boots. She was hugging my hero and I noticed that he was blushing, too. My heart sank as I realized that Sonic has been in love with that woman! I even felt like he doesn't even remember me anymore. So..."

It was interrupted when a choked sob came out of her voice. Amy notices that she was about to cry as Sonnette continues, "...so I decide to... forget him and just head back home." That was then, she bent down and let it out. Sobbing like crazy, tears were pouring out. Amy knew that she must've had a miserable day; from being ignored and forgotten to being heartbroken, Sonette seems to be victimized.

While Sonnette was covering her eyes and still cries while bending on her knees, Amy leaves the room and returns back with a tissue. Amy pats Sonnette on the back to get her attention. She lifts her face, eyes already reddened from crying and her cheeks all soaked from her tears. Amy shows her the tissue. Sonnette takes it and blows one it with a great honk. Once she did, she gives it to Amy, saying in a choked tone, "Tanks you...." and sniffed at the end. Amy throwed the tissue to a nearby trashcan as Sonnette continues...

"I was gonna head home, but I was too tired after coming all this way to here. So I decide to come to the Knothole Village and find someone who can have me stay for the night so I can recover....pyshically and emotionally..."

Once all that explanation is over, Amy was beginning to have a feeling that she is quite relatable to her. She does love Sonic and she does have moments of jealousy just before she grew up to know the fact that Sonic is with Sally nowadays. She has moments of feeling ignored, but never been forgotten and moments where she thinks Sonic doesn't care anymore. She then responds to her sad friend.

"Sonnette..."

Sonnette looks up, wondering what Amy is going to say.
"I never knew you had a worse day of your life, but you know what? I happen to be a biggest fan of Sonic myself."

Sonnette tilts her head, wondering what does she mean. She listened again to hear what else Amy was going to say.

"I was in love with Sonic! He saved me from Robotnik a lot of times, even his friends. I do have dreams of him, marrying me, but that's not going to happen now that he is with Sally Acorn, the squirrel who is with Sonic. I actually accept that fact, in spite that I was a bit upset, but then I learned that he actually likes me as a friend. Sonic does go out with me sometimes, he has moments of being with me, and even moments when me, Sonic, and Sally have fun together!" She added a cute chuckle.

Sonnette, whose sadness was lifting away, looked curious on the face. Tears were beginning to dry up as she asks, "Do you mean to tell me that you had a crush on him before you changed?" Amy nods. "That's right and I learned to help him out, too!" Sonnette recalls that day in McGuffin when she stopped Coconuts by blowing a bubble and got him all gummed up to avoid any warnings to Grounder and Scratch during the "Mystery of the Missing Hi-Tops" incident. She replies to Amy, "I helped him, too, when I met him! I gummed that metallic banana-eater before he could warn that robot chicken and that talking tankman!" Amy know who she was  referring to. Amy chuckles from that, which causes Sonnette to laugh, too.
Sonnette then feels like her spirit was beginning to raise after chuckling.

Sonnette gots up and said to Amy, "You know? I didn't even get to know your name, miss..."

"I am Amy Rose..." Amy answers with a gentlewomanly gracious bow with her skirt.

"And you know what, Amy?" Sonnette questions postively, "I think you and I had something in common!"

"We sure do!" Amy agrees with a smile, "You and I like Sonic yet we learn how to help and do something that's best for him, too!" Suddenly, Sonnette hugs her tightly, which only surprises Amy. "You and I are a bit like...like sisters, don't you think?" Amy patter her while still being hugged. "I do believe so, Sonnette!" Sonnette lefts go of her and responds, "Maybe Sonic didn't forget me! Maybe he had so many things to do on Mobius that he must've been too busy to remember. And maybe he would still like to have me as a friend still!" Amy was smiling to see Sonnette feeling all better.

Just then, Amy looks at her window that was still left open. She walks over there and peeps over. The sight of dark blue and purple on the sky and the cool breeze kicking in. It was getting late. Amy goes inside and shuts the window. "It's getting dark, Sonnette," Amy sez, "You are always welcome to be here though." Sonnette smiled broadly as she replies, "Thank you kindly, Miss Rose!"

"Interested for some dinner?" Amy sez as she was about to go into the kitchen. Sonnette rubs her tummy as if that was a "YES". Amy chuckles as she enters to the kitchen. Just then, Sonnette yelled, "Wait!" Amy returns back and asks, "What's wrong?" "I thought you're too young to cook." Sonnette says. "Oh, I know how to cook since Aurora knows!" Amy sez, understanding her new friend's concern, "Plus, I'm planning on cooking one of Sonic's favorite meal for dinner!" She winks at Sonnette, hoping that she knows what they're going to have. "Chilidogs, right?" Sonnette chuckles that answer out. "Correct!" Amy said and finally zooms back inside. Sonnette laughs as she, too, goes into the kitchen.

Hours after eating, Sonnette and Amy appear to be in the living room again, talking once more. This time, this was about where Sonnette is going to sleep tonight. "Do you have any idea where I can sleep, Amy?" Sonnette asks, "I mean, I don't mind if I had to sleep on a sleeping bag, as long as it is comfy and cozy." Amy was in a thinking positions as she scans the whole room. And then, she spots a light blue couch that was on the left of her green couch. Amy then sez, "Are you comfortable sleeping on a couch for tonight?" Sonnette scoffs positively, answering, "Oh, I've been sleeping couchs some times. Sure, I can handle it! Got any blankets though?" Amy nods as she reaches to the living closet and pulls a heavy blue bed blankets. She spreads it all over the couch and tucks it up like a bed. Amy dusts her hands, saying, "Voila!"

The couch was perfectly set. The sheets were tucked and there was only one cushion at the right side, placed like a pillow. Sonnette gets inside, squirming a bit to make herself comfortable. "Nice and comfy....thanks, Amy." Responds the happy squirrel. Amy smiles merrily as she sez, "Hope you have a good night's rest." Sonnette then said, "You bet I will! Good night!" Amy was reaching at the door with her hand on the lightswitch, bidding her, "Good night, Sonnette." Once the lights were out, Sonnette was still thinking about Sonic. She was happy all of the sudden, but then, she becomes worried. She wasn't sure if Sonic will be able to remember her. She fears that Sonic might forget her. But she needs to stop thinking about it; otherwise, she won't be able to sleep. So before she shuts her eyes, she thought to herself, "I hope Sonic remembers me..."

Sun was rising after hours of calm darkness of the night. The birds were chirping all over the Knothole Village. Inside that same house were Sonnette is, there was Sonnette snoring loudly while she was sleeping on her tummy with her face, facing the frony. Drool was draggling down as she snores. Just then, some fume was sweeping away the room from the kitchen. By the time it passes through Sonnette's nose, she begins to sniff and stops snoring. Her eyes flittered as she was finally awake. She got up, still on that couch, sniffing that aroma. She licks her lips for one thing that she knows what was cooking: BREAKFAST!

So she got out of the couch and shortly sprints to the kitchen entrance. Sniffing still, she peeps over the entrance and there was Amy Rose in her white, cooking apron, cooking up some bacon and eggs on a hot stove with her black pan. She was humming her theme song as she was merrily flipping the eggs around. Sonnette drools from the sigh of those bacon that were already cooked and those toasted bread being sprung from the toaster. Just then, Amy turns to where Sonnette is and responds, "Morning, Sonnette! Glad to see you awake, because breakfast is almost ready! And we're having some company coming over for breakfast, too!"

"Who are coming?" Sonnette questions as she sits down on the chair at the tableclothed tabled.  "Why Sonic and Sally, of course!" Sonnette quickly reacts with a worried expression after Amy answered. Amy was nearing her squirrel friend with a plate of sunny sideups, bacon, and some toast. "What's wrong, Sonnette?" Amy questions her friend after seeing that look on her friend's face. "I'm just ain't sure if Sonic will ever remember me..." Sonnette explains. Amy replies back, "Oh, I'm sure he would! He was there when you met and help him, didn't he? Sonnette then smiles again, recalling that time. "Oh, I guess you're right, Amy! I must've been some worry wart all this time." They both chuckled and Sonnette was prepared to enjoy her breakfast.

While she was chewing her eggs and bacon, a doorknock was heard. Amy's voice was heard, "I'll get it!" During the time Sonnette swallowed down her food, the sound of the door opening came. "Hey, Amy, we're here!" A familiar voice was heard. Sonnette frozed with surprise. She looks over the table and there, at the door was her hero, Sonic the Hedgehog with Sally. Sonic and Sally didn't noticed her, but Sonnette is trying to calm herself and continue eating for her heart raced a bit with excitement and nervousness at the same time. She was eating her last toast as sounds of nearing footsteps were made. Chewing her toast, Sonic's voice broke out with a "Sonnette?"

This creates an imediate reaction to Sonnette as she shakes her head like she had water in her ears. She turns quickly and notices Sonic, looking surprised to see her. "Sonic?" she reacts with a question, hoping that he does remember her. Sonic comes near her, chuckling merrily as he sez, "Sonnette, it has been so long since we last met! How are yah?" He lends a hand out as if he was expecting a handshake. To his surprise, Sonnette wraps her arms around him and hugs him tightly, responding in an overjoyed tone. "Oh, Sonic, you DO remember me! Oh, you have no idea how pleased I am that you still remember me! I sure miss you, Sonic! Really, I am!" While Sonic was being a bit thrashed by her hug, Sonic looks at her. "Dude, I've always remembered you. I even remember Breezy and Roxy who are outside of McGuffin." He smiled with a chuckle, understanding her feelings. Petting her head, Sonnette smiles warmingly.

At this moment, Sally was near Amy, wondering who she is. "Who is this squirrel?" "That's Sonnette," Amy sez, "An old friend that Sonic one time met and saved." "How come I have never seen her?" Sally questions again, scratching her head. "Oh, she's outside of the Knothole Village and she feels like a nobody since everyone doesn't know her." Sally then looks at her boyfriend, Sonic, enjoying this happy reunion. While Sally still has no clue this person, Amy smiles to see them all happy, especially Sonnette.
Later then, once breakfast was done, there was Sonnette, Sally, Sonic, and Amy again in the living room. Amy stills on her green couch while Sally (on the left), Sonnette (middle), and Sonic (Right) are on that light blue couch. Sonnette has already explained about this thing to Sonic and Sally like she did with Amy. Sally reacts in a good way, "I never realized that you felt like you were nobody, but it turns out, you just need a friend." Sonnette nods. "And you were so desparate to see me yet you were afraid that I wouldn't remember you." Sonic added. Sonnette nodded again.

"Well, I will say this..." the Princess said, placing her hand on Sonnette's shoulder, "Here in the Knothole Village, we are always on the move, kicking Robotnik's butt!" "Hey!" Sonic interrupts, "I usually say that last part!" The girls laughed. Just then, Sally continues, "We are always happy to see folks coming here. Here, we aren't just villagers. We are also Freedom Fighters!"

"Freedom Fighters?" Sonnette gasped.

"Yes, Sonnette," Sally answers, "We are always happy to invite anyone who wants to fight against Robotnik and save Mobius from his tyranny."

Sonnette was now in a moment of silence. She was surprised that everyone is always welcome to accept more people to fight for freedom. She, too, dislikes Robotnik and wants him gone for good. She likes the idea of this freedom fighthing thing. That was then, she excitedly asks Sally, "Can I join in as a Freedom Fighter, too?"

"Well...maybe," Sally said with ambiguity. "What do you do?"

Sonnette frowns now that she has asked that. Her response was "Gee, uh...I don't know. All I've been doing for the rest of my doings is being happy to see Sonic, chewing gum, and I think that's mostly it." "But you also know how to steal pretty good, too!" Sonic replies a fact. Sonnette cringes to hear that word. "I never want to hear that word ever again..." She shivers with such disgust about what she did since the Mystery of the Missing Hi-Tops. Sonic pats her on the back, saying, "Sorry for bringing that up. I know what I said about stealing." "But you shouldn't worry about it," Amy said positively. Sonnette looks at her, questioning, "Why?"

"We know someone who happens to be a thief, but is a member of a Freedom Fighter," Amy answers. "And who is that?" Sonnette was really eager to know who. Sure, whoever this person, she doesn't know her, but she happens to be some burglar who happens to do some good deeds. "Rouge the Bat, of course," Amy giggled. "Never heard of her," Sonnette responds while scratching her head. "She used to be into stealing jewels and dreams of being a treasure hunter until she grew quite fond of one of us later then." Sally explains. "She really is one of those girls who would 'drive the men mad' in some ways. But other than that, she is perfect on her skills."

"You mean she uses her abilities as a thief to help out?" Sonnette gasps with an interested surprise. "Right, dudette!" Sonnette winks at her. "And when not stealing, she just does some teamwork with us!"

Sonnette was quite surprised. She never knew that someone who steals happens to be a good fellow in some way. She hates stealing, but she learns that a reformed thief like this "Rouge Bat" would still learn how to do good things. That was then, she begins to think about what she can do to prove that she will become a Freedom Fighter. That was then, she has that positive look on her face, asking her friends, "If I can do something, including my thieving talent, would you accept me as a Freedom Fighter?" That time, Sally smiles as she answers, "We will be delighted to task you to prove your worth as a Freedom Fighter."

That was then, Sonnette squeals excitingly as she jumps in the air and dances. She was so happy to be part of their group if she pasts. Sally looks at Sonic, speaking with a smirk on her face, "At this rate, she'll never let you go anywhere at this point." Sonic chuckled, "Oh, don't worry. She'll be much happier if she has friends like Antoine, Rotor, Bunnie, and the others once we introduced her to them." Amy engages the conversation as she sez, "At least she won't be a nobody anymore by the time she accomplishes her task." "I got to admit, girls..." Sonic replies, "Sonnette sure has something in common between, you two girls and Rouge! She's a squirrel like Sally, she loves me to death like you, Amy, and she can be take something away perfectly like Rouge! What matches!" They both smiled as they watch their new Freedom Fighter dances and sings victoriously...

Will Sonnette ever be able to join in the Freedom Fighters?

TO BE CONTINUED...

This, I believe, is the very first Sonic the Hedgehog fan fiction that introduces the one shot character and a forgotten character from an Advetures of Sonic the Hedgehog (AOSTH) episode ["The Mystery of the Missing Hi-Tops"] : Sonnette the Squirrel. I really like this character, in spite that she is a bit like a knock off of Amy Rose. Since I noticed that not much people notice her, I thought I would make this story to start her gain of popularity. Maybe! So I hope you guys enjoyed this!

Summary: Sonnette was depressed that nobody knows her and that Sonic is with Sally. Staying over at Amy's house for tonight, she explains all this and then they bond other like friends with a common interest. The next day, Sonic and Sally came and Sonnette worries that Sonic won't remember her, but he did! Sonnette then begins to wonder if she will be able to become a Freedom Fighter instead of a nobody.

If you never seen or heard of her, watch the episode on this link: www.youtube.com/watch?v=WKpB6T…

I would like to give a special thanks to Prinny Aniki :iconprinnyaniki: for inspiring me to fix this story a better one. After asking a question on how she will be Freedom Fighter if she does stealing in the episode? That made me a bit concerned until he mentions. However, that was then, it came to me! So I updated a new version after editing and adding some things! Thank you, Mister Aniki!

So, what can Sonnette do for Freedom Fighters?  She is the only one that can steal Sonic shoes, and yet, she learns her leason.  The show just wrote her as a bad character, but with a few tweaks, she could have been more.  Will she become a thief for freedom fighters, or continue hating the idea of stealing?  The complexity can work somehow.
