Recently while checking more creatures online and went to the Wampus Society site, they have a list of names and just the names of creatures with small details! ((This site with the dictionary: www.fearsomecreaturesofthelumb… ))
When I came across one creature, it was hard to image if there is not very much resource on it! I was inspired to draw it! Here’s what it said on that site, according to the legend:
“CAMP CHIPMUNK : The camp chimunk, being a quadruped of lurid temperament, grew to the size of horse-drawn carriages on a diet of prune-stones.”
The way how it was written sounds like an oversized chipmunk with an angry temper or something! Because there was wasn’t much information about it, I have a hunch to figure it out more! Such as the location!
So what you got in this comic is Xavier and Ruby went around America and just found themselves in Three Rivers, Tulare, California, just on the road named the Sierra Drive! They are near the Three Rivers Diner (based on an existing restaurant called We Three) as Xavier admires this place! That’s when they heard a gurgling noise coming from a hole. Because of Ruby’s quills, she needs to rest on top of Xavier’s nearly thin, yet flat snout and head while facing down! By the time they look back, they were startled to see a huge, horse-sized chipmunk behind them! However, this one seems to be a bit different…
The next time I draw her I need to look back into Disney to make her look better!
What Xavier was singing was some popular 1920 song, written by Raymond B. Egan and Gus Kahn and music by Richard A. Whiting, “AIN’T WE GOT FUN”, which I can’t get that tune out of my head! I’ve first heard of it from a 1943 Merrie Melodies (by Warner Brothers and Fritz Frelend), “Fifth Column Mouse”!
That camp chipmunk is named Sojouner!
