Chappy and Mario Sketches

Description

Because I DID say that I want to make my first yet renewed cartoon, CHAPPY & MARIO, like a real classy, old-schooled cartoon, I must do some practices on the slapstick! And there are some times when emotions come in, too!
--------------------------------------------------------
• WILD TAKES:

Like all old cartoons, sometimes, you’d see one of the most beloved yet useable techniques from the one and only Frederick Been “Tex” Avery (1908 – 1980). So I decided to use that technique for these wild takes on Chappy and Mario!

Here, you see Chappy’s head turned into an 1930s Oldsmobile/Ford automobile! With that, it was supposed to relate to that sound effect of an “ooga horn” (those horns that make AWOOGA!). This is actually one of my favorite takes when it comes to a car horn for a reaction! For Mario, he pops through his derby (while the hat still remains in the air) and freezes up while squeaking in shock! This was actually a fun thing to draw!
-----------------------------------------------------
• COMICAL CHASES:

You guys remember that new character and doorman, BIG BOB BOUNCER? Well, I thought this would be perfect to make up a comic or cartoon chase scene, like all classy cartoons! Well, there’s your chase!

You have Chappy as the one Big Bob is chasing after! Chappy is cranking his tail as if it was some crank that helps start an old automobile! Because you remember Big Bob had a bomb for a tattoo, due to his anger, his tattoo is actually fusing up, igniting to explode!
---------------------------------------------------
• OSBELETE CELL

This is somehow based on the backgrounds on Chappy Cat and Mario Mouse:

On Chappy, “When it comes to animation of today, he seems to be so depressed that he thinks that classic cartoons like him and Mario are going obsolete.”

On Mario, “Because of animation of today, Mario is usually optimistic on finding a way how to run a classic cartoon in this brave, new world! He now is tries to comfort the poor cat about the media and society of today!”

Here, you see Chappy awfully depressed on the fact about modern animation! That’s why you even noticed him having some binge (with those beverages, including alcoholic Toonshine, a bit like moonshine for toons). That’s why you see Mario looking sympathetic to Chappy, even Chappy’s brother (who I am reviving him to be part of the cast), Quincy “Quince” Cat!

And according the news with the title, “OBSOLETE CELL,”

“Cell animation has now been obsolete sine computers are now dominant to modern animation nowadays!..”

In order to make it a great cartoon, you got to at least add some emotion to it, other than just slapstick and laughter!

Fun Fact: “I was reading the preview ‘Who Censored Roger Rabbit?’ on Amazon, which happens to become a film, ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit’ (1988). I’ve read…

“Since Toons could not legally buy human-manufactured liquor, most drank the moonshine produced by their country cousins in Dogpatch and Hootin’ Holler. Potent stuff. Few humans could handle it.”
~ “Who Censored Roger Rabbit”, Gary K. Wolf.

And in fact, that they called it Toonshine!

So I decided to use that and put it in my cartoon! Amazingly, I'm even deciding to get some ideas both from the book (Who Censored Roger Rabbit?) and the movie (Who Framed Roger Rabbit) to bring in some benefits to CHAPPY & MARIO!

Hope you enjoy this!
